Terwijl de eerste BWP plaat flink ondergedompeld werd in jaren 70 US west-coast folkrock, gaat ‘I Saw A Star…’ veel meer richting Britse sixties psychedelica. En de legendarische tegencultuur artiest John Hurford wordt zelfs gecoverd. As with the first album, the lyrics don’t shy away from current affairs – by the end of that year of touring, the band were already playing “I Wanna Love You (But I Can’t Right Now)”, reflecting on the state of US politics, yet optimistic that the problems are only temporary.
